SUBJECT MATTER: AN OBJECT VIEWED FROM BOTH SIDES
TITLE: INTERFACE (2006)

What can be viewed from both sides and I find it interesting?
A lake surface!
You can view either from the top or the bottom of the water.
You could have totally different feeling from a common surface.
You may not be able to view it from two opposite angles in the reallity easily,
yet you may imagine here
...
First Idea
The idea "interface" comes from the internet term and daily online business world. People just making use of a screen and enter a virtual business world. I've chosen a lake surface as my development of the subject matter. It is also related to a previous sculpture I made:

My new definition of "interface" for this project:
A surface as a medium to present both sides of the world seeing through each other.
我想利用「介面」作為從兩個相反角度看世界的媒介。
Original Definition of "interface":

1. a connection between two pieces of electronic equipment, or between a person and a computer
e.g. The new version of the program comes with a much better user interface (= way of showing information to a user) than the original.
graphical user interface noun [C] (ABBREVIATION GUI)
a way of arranging information on a computer screen that is easy to understand and use because it uses icons, menus and a mouse rather than only text
2. a situation, way or place where two things come together and affect each other
e.g. the interface between technology and tradition
(from Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)
「介面」本身的定義
1. 介面是電腦程式模塊之間的互動規範。
2. 根據共同的物力互聯特性,信號特性和交換信號含意所定義的共用邊界。 |
